Smile design practice · Kosančićev venac, Belgrade

A handmade smile,tried on first

Atelier Smile is a small practice in the old part of Belgrade, where dentistry and ceramic craft meet at the same table. You first wear the new tooth shape as a mock-up, and only then does the ceramist build it up, layer by layer, in our own laboratory.

  • An in-mouth mock-up before any preparation
  • A ceramist at the practice, a few steps from the chair
  • A small number of patients a day and longer appointments
a ceramic veneer resting on a palm, in soft daylight by a window
a worktable with a shade guide, tooth sketches and a cup of tea beside a tall window

About us

A small practice, careful work

Atelier Smile grew out of the conviction that aesthetic dentistry works better when the dentist and the ceramist share a space and look at the same teeth. Everything else follows from that.

a room with a high vaulted ceiling, pale walls and two armchairs
a narrow corridor with a row of framed ceramic tiles on the wall
a tall window looking out over rooftops to a river in the distance

The clinic

The clinic and its equipment

A space beneath old vaults, arranged for calm work and daylight, with equipment that serves precision rather than display.

Clinic and equipment

Intraoral scanner

A small camera records your teeth and gums and builds a three-dimensional model within minutes. The ceramist uses that model directly in the laboratory, and you can see it on screen while we discuss the plan.

Digital intraoral X-ray

A sensor instead of film captures images of individual teeth with a low radiation dose. The image appears on screen within seconds, where we can enlarge it and look at it together.

CBCT (3D imaging)

CBCT shows bone, roots and surrounding structures in three dimensions. We use it when clinically justified, most often to plan implants in the aesthetic zone.

Team

People at the same table

Four dentists and a ceramist, each with their own focus, all looking at your plan the same way.

Impressions

How it went, in their words

Short impressions of the mock-up, shade matching, aligners and travelling from abroad.

What mattered most to me was being able to see and wear the new teeth for a whole day before anything was prepared. On the mock-up I asked for the incisors to be slightly shorter, and that was done without any fuss.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions patients most often ask before their first appointment: about the mock-up, veneers, aligners, payment and travelling from abroad.

A mock-up is a temporary composite model of the future tooth shape, placed over your teeth without any drilling. You can speak, smile and look at yourself in the mirror with it, so your decision is based on what you actually see rather than an image on a screen. If something does not suit you, we change the design before anything permanent is done.

Preparation for veneers and crowns is done under local anaesthetic, so most patients feel pressure and vibration during the procedure, but not pain. Before we start we agree a signal for a pause, and we work without rushing, as the practice is organised around a small number of patients a day. Some temporary sensitivity is possible afterwards, depending on the extent of preparation.

When teeth are rotated, protruding or crowded, veneers could only “straighten” the line with more substantial preparation. If the teeth are first moved into place, less preparation is needed, and sometimes veneers are no longer necessary at all. Whether this route makes sense for you is something we assess after the examination and a digital simulation.

You can pay by card, in cash or by bank transfer. For larger treatment plans, such as a smile design with several veneers, instalments are possible by agreement, usually aligned with the phases of the work. The terms are agreed before we begin and set out in the written plan.
